Ans. People in developing countries waste their limited resources by seeking medical help for even minor health problems. Thus they spend more on doctors and medicines than on healthy food and an improved physical environment.
2. Why do people in developed countries remain far from achieving positive health?
Ans. People in developed countries remain far from achieving positive health because their family ties are weakening, neighbourly relations do not exist and most friendships are limited to business contacts. Thus even though they are well off in wealth, nutrition, and better environmental conditions. Most of them are not so contented mentally. This stress affects their physical health as well.
3. Why is it easier for people in developing nations to achieve positive health?
Ans. It is easier for people in developing nations to achieve positive health because they have more close-knit social systems and better interaction amongst them. Thus with little resources or advanced medical facilities, they can enjoy positive health.
4. What role did our aged aunts and wise friends play in maintaining mental health?
Ans. Our aged aunts and wise friends used to solve problems that burdened the mind by listening to them and showing understanding and compassion as they believed this was most important to relieve the distressed person’s mind.
5. How can the tremendous waste of limited resources in achieving good health be avoided in developing countries?
Ans. People in developing countries have close-knit social systems and good interaction. We should make people understand the importance of good health and how it can be achieved. Education may be an effective medium to do so. By using radio, television, and newspapers, we can spread knowledge about good health. Such ways may help us avoid wastage of our limited resources.
6. Why are mind relaxation techniques important for good health?
Ans. To develop a healthy mind, it is important to relax properly and to develop ways to deal with stress which causes many diseases of heart and blood circulation. Relaxation techniques can help to avoid such diseases and keep good health.
